JANE AUSTEN SOCIETY - LONDON BRANCH

The London Branch is one of the larger Branches of the Society. It organises a number of events each year, of which at least one is free to members of the Branch. The annual subscription of £6, which lasts for one year from 1 April, also provides for two Newsletters.

All other events are charged at cost and include a discussion meeting, three talks, a summer outing and an annual Lunch in December to celebrate Jane Austen’s birthday.

All the meetings and talks are held in central London on a Saturday afternoon, generally either at St Mary Abbot Hall, Kensington or at the Civil Service Club off Whitehall. The lunch is held on a Saturday in a central London hotel. Outings are full day events on a Saturday. All events make provision for refreshments.

The Branch also looks after the grave of Eliza de Feuillide (Jane Austen’s cousin and sister-in-law, and supposedly model for Mary Crawford in Mansfield Park).

This is in the churchyard of St John’s, Hampstead. If you wish to join the London Branch, please complete and return the form below. However, you should note that this does not entitle you to be a member of the national Society nor does membership of the main Society entitle you to membership of the Branch.
