Adrian Bell (1901-1980) In 1932 moved to Market Cottage, Princes Risborough, Bucks. Moved to the Stour valley in 1933.

John Betjeman (1906-1984) He became a teacher at Thorpe House School, Gerrard's Cross, before working as a private secretary, and then at another prep school.

G.K. Chesterton (1874-1936) in Beaconsfield (Overroads, Grove Road,) 1909-35, b. in Beaconsfield

Walter de la Mare (1873-1956) from 1925 to 1940 lived at Hill House, Taplow, Buckinghamshire

Ivor Gurney (1890-1937) 1914 Took the post of organist at Christ Church,High Wycombe

John Milton (1608-1674)Milton's Cottage is the only existing home of John Milton, the great English poet and parliamentarian, in Chalfont St. Giles, Buckinghamshire. Milton completed Paradise Lost here, and the idea of Paradise Regained was born.John Milton's cottage
E.J. Oxenham (1880-1960) Her holiday places listed all provided settings for her books, but the longest series, her 'Abbey Books' were set on the borders of Bucks and Oxfordshire, roughly where the village of Chinnor is, to which she 'moved' the ruins of Cleeve Abbey (from Washford in Somerset) which, with the addition of an underground crypt and tunnels, became her 'Gracedieu Abbey', the background for some 39 books.

Shelley (1792-1822) Lived in Marlow 1817-18
