To foster the collection, preservation, study and publication in the public interest of material relating to the Martineau family of Norwich in the 19th century and the princi pies of heedom oF conscience advocated by Harriet Martineau and her brother, Dr. James Martineau.

The agreed rates of subscription in US dollars which would allow for the extra cost of mail to North America are as follows:
Institutional membership 60 US Dollars
Individual membership 20 US Dollars
Students in full-time education
or retired members 10 US Dollars
Life membership — 300 US Dollars
