The Sheila Kaye-Smith Society

The Sheila Kaye-Smith Society was formed in 1987 to mark the centenary of her birth and its principal aim is to stimulate and widen interest in her work. It is hoped to do this in a variety of ways, including:-

  1. To produce annually the Society's journal, THE GLEAM, containing relevant articles, reprints and pictures.
  2. To publish occasional papers relating to her life and writing, including specific books. Ten of these have so far appeared.
  3. To arrange talkes and slide shows in similar vein.
  4. To arrange social unctions including walks in the 'Sheila Kaye-Smith Country of Kent and East Sussex.
  5. To create a comprehensive archive including a full binbliography so that detailed information may be made available to members on request.
  6. To assist members in building their own collections of Sheila Kaye-Smith's published works.

To promote these aims, a small committee is elected at the Society's Annual General Meeting, and a Newsletter detailing the Society's activities is issued to members three or four times a year.

Ordinary meetings and/or social functions are held about once a month, usually, though not always, in the East Sussex area.
